You guessed it, this is the #bts of me getting ready on prom, how did I look? I would love to see what you guys think of my prom glam! So get commenting my lovelies! Personally, my prom was AMAZING and I wouldn’t change anything about it, all due to being surrounded by my beautiful friends. However, I do think if I could go back in time, I would keep the following tips in mind.
Make sure you eat the food!
That being said, guess who didn’t eat on prom? I guess I was just too busy losing my voice and hyping my gorgeous friends up. And that’s coming from someone who eats when she’s bored.
Anyways, all I’m saying is: you have paid for this, so make the most out of it! LOL why do I sound like my mum please? But seriously, if you’re paying for the food then you just have to eat.
However, before prom be sure to eat an energizing meal such as leafy green salads with some protein, like chicken or fish. Avoid fizzy drinks as they provide sudden energy and will leave you feeling tired for the night. Instead, drink water or juice. The tips above are essential as you want to make sure your energy levels are up on prom night, for you to enjoy.
Don’t go overboard with the dress.
I know, you probably think I’m an idiot for saying this but don’t go over the top with your dress. You can still look good when you’re on a tight budget! It’s not only you who thought of going overboard with your dress, I did too! But I realised how prom is actually only a couple of hours long, and in those hours all you’re going to do is: have fun. Imagine spending so much for just one day, can’t be me.
If you are willing to stay broke for months after prom, all I’m going to say is: good luck honey because there goes your entire summer’s savings. Also, try saving up for a couple of months before prom as you will need to split on your transportation, makeup, hair, nails, dress etc.
Be organised and DO NOT leave this last minute. Because believe me, I did and it stressed me out so much. You must also contact your hair/makeup/nail appointments beforehand so that it’s out of the way, and bear in mind that you’re not the only one contacting them. It is prom season after all.
Don’t worry about taking pictures!!
Prom is one of those events where you should just remember how much fun you had, even if you don’t take many pictures. Plus, if you’re one of those people who worry about not having the perfect picture for the gram, just relax!
Prom should be a night where you sort of forget about your phone, and just have fun with your friends. However, if your phone is in your purse, do yourself a favour and keep your purse next to you hun.
The last thing you want is someone stealing your belongings. If you think about it, it is the last time you’ll see these people. Whether you’ve made good or bad memories with them, they went through it too, not just you. So put aside all your tensions and dance the night away with them, because believe me I regret not doing so. Hence, I’m informing you guys!
As I’ve said before, it is crucial that you book all your appointments a couple months before your prom date, because hair and makeup artists get fully booked due to prom season, so be fully prepared from the start.
When prom is nearby; you should give them a ring if they haven’t already to confirm that you have booked them. That being said, email/dm/text the inspiration for the hair and makeup look you want to them so that they can prepare from the beginning.
I use Pinterest for everything, so I would recommend using it for any inspo you want to look for! This way, not only are you prepared, but you don’t have any stress on you for the month before, which is when your exams are usually.
Don’t plan/ go to after-parties with people you’re not comfortable with.
Now a lot of us get into big friendship groups during our secondary years, and we often fall out and what not. So planning an after-party with people you don’t like is honestly such a waste of your time.
I would say you should plan something with your closest friends and just end the night with the best company. I certainly don’t regret anything about how my prom night was. I mean, apart from trying to walk in massive heels at 12 am, it was all good. Just have fun and don’t regret anything!
Have fun on your special night!
This is it, after this day you no longer have to include these people in your everyday routines, so why not make the most out of it and just dance with them. Most importantly, enjoy your night with your friends who have always been there for you.
Hope this was somewhat useful for you, don’t forget to follow my Instagram sanaesthetic and tag me in your wonderful prom pictures, I would LOVE to see them!
